ESG Workforce Training & Development for Businesses
Empower your internal team — turn the ESG transition from a cost burden into a sustainable competitive advantage.
1. Investing in an ESG team — the decision between self-sufficiency and dependence
Every sustainability reporting season, corporate leadership faces two choices: keep hiring external consultants for a few months of sprinting. Or invest in ESG Workforce Training to build an internal team for long-term self-sufficiency. The first-time consulting spend can range from VND 500 million to several billion. And it will recur every reporting cycle, because when internal staff do not master the methodology. The company returns to the starting line each year.
Meanwhile, companies that have invested in proper training for their internal ESG teams are reaping a double advantage: the reporting cycle shortened from 6 months to 2 months, external consulting costs reduced by 60–70%, and most importantly — a team capable of engaging directly with investors, international customers and verifiers without an intermediary interpreter.
Carbon Credit Vietnam’s ESG Workforce Training & Development service is designed precisely for that transformation.
2. Why do businesses need ESG workforce training?
ESG training is not a “welfare expense” but the highest-ROI investment in a company’s ESG value chain:
Self-sufficiency across the reporting cycle
the internal team can maintain the data collection system, draft reports and respond to investors without depending on external consultants.
Meeting the requirements of parent corporations and international customers
Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers increasingly must have ESG-certified personnel to be approved onto supplier lists.
Reducing long-term costs
a one-time training investment replaces recurring annual consulting fees; the ROI typically pays back within 1–2 reporting cycles.
Engaging directly with CBAM, verifiers and ESG funds
when the internal team has a firm grasp of industry terminology and methodology, the business avoids the risks of misunderstanding requirements, losing business opportunities, or having reports rejected.
Retaining and developing talent
international ESG credentials (GRI Certified, ISO 14064 Lead Verifier) are valuable career assets, helping businesses retain key personnel in a fiercely competitive ESG labor market.
3. The ESG Talent Gap in Vietnam
Vietnam’s ESG labor market is witnessing a paradox: demand is soaring, yet the supply of qualified talent remains extremely scarce. The number of companies publishing Sustainability Reports has tripled over the past 5 years, while the number of experts holding the GRI Certified Sustainability Professional credential in Vietnam is still only a few dozen. The same applies to the ISO 14064 Lead Verifier credential — supply falls short of the peak demand for inventory report verification from 2027 under Decree 119/2025.
The consequence is that the cost of hiring external ESG experts keeps rising, while in-house positions such as ESG Manager, Sustainability Officer and Climate Risk Analyst are perpetually short of qualified candidates. can help businesses upgrade existing staff while attracting and retaining new talent. It has therefore become an increasingly important strategy for Vietnamese businesses in the 2025–2030 period.
4. Who should join the training program
Listed companies and large corporations seeking to build an internal ESG team to reduce dependence on external consultants and support recurring reporting cycles.
Exporting businesses preparing to meet CBAM, EUDR and supply-chain CSRD requirements — needing a team that has mastered emissions calculation methods and ESG disclosure.
FDI enterprises whose parent companies require GRI/ISSB-based reporting and need their Vietnamese teams trained to group standards.
Financial institutions and banks building capabilities for their green credit, climate risk analysis and ESG appraisal teams across lending/investment portfolios.
Consulting organizations and independent verification bodies that need to train their technical teams in the ISO 14064 or GRI standards.
Individuals working in the sustainability field who aspire to sit the GRI Certified Sustainability Professional or ISO 14064 Lead Verifier examinations for career advancement.
5. Why choose Carbon Credit Vietnam as your training partner?
Carbon Credit Vietnam Joint Stock Company is an Official Member of the GRI Community, and our key instructors hold the GRI Certified Sustainability Professional credential. We have personally completed GRI Academy’s official training program — and have now redesigned that content into a Vietnamese-language program tailored to the context of Vietnamese businesses, integrating the domestic legal framework (Decree 119/2025/ND-CP, Circular 96/2020/TT-BTC) and practical case studies drawn from our own consulting projects.
Unlike purely “global theory” courses, Carbon Credit Vietnam’s ESG Workforce Training program is built on the philosophy of “learn it, use it immediately”: participants leave the classroom with a set of sample documents, data collection templates, a list of disclosures to report, and a 90-day implementation roadmap for their own organization. Participants who wish to sit international certification exams are guided through the exam preparation pathway all the way to examination day.

8. Carbon Credit Vietnam’s training service process
Every Carbon Credit Vietnam training program — whether Foundation, In-house Specialist or Executive Briefing — is delivered through a standardized six-step process, ensuring learning effectiveness and applicability to real work:
Step 1 — Needs Survey & Current ESG Capability Assessment
Before designing the program, the Carbon Credit Vietnam team conducts a rapid assessment of the company team’s existing ESG capabilities through a Capability Assessment questionnaire and 1:1 interviews with department heads. The result is a Skills Gap report that pinpoints exactly which knowledge/skills should be prioritized for training — avoiding wasteful “one-size-fits-all” learning that squanders participants’ time.
Step 2 — Customized Program Design by Industry & Level
Based on the survey results, we design a customized program: selecting the appropriate modules, adjusting the depth of content, replacing default case studies with same-industry case studies (manufacturing, textiles and garments, F&B, finance, real estate…), and choosing the most suitable delivery format (in-house at the company, online live, blended learning, or classroom-based at our center).
Step 3 — Course Delivery Using the 70-20-10 Method
The course is run on the 70-20-10 principle: 70% hands-on practice with real templates/case studies, 20% instructor–participant interaction, 10% foundational theory. Every session includes applied exercises, group workshops and Q&A time. Package 2 participants are assigned a “capstone project” — building a section of a sample Sustainability Report for their own company, with detailed feedback from the instructor.
Step 4 — Pre- and Post-Course Assessment & Certification
Participants take entry and end-of-course tests to measure progress. The company receives a consolidated capability report for the whole team — clearly indicating which participants have reached the Foundation/Proficient/Advanced level. A certificate of course completion is issued to each participant, signed by a GRI Certified instructor.
Step 5 — Support for Practical Application (30-Day Post-Training Support)
For 30 days after the course, participants are entitled to free consultation via email/Zoom on any difficulties in applying their knowledge to real work — from filling in data collection templates and applying the materiality assessment method to writing the GRI Content Index section. This is the crucial “bridging” phase that keeps the knowledge learned from being forgotten.
Step 6 — Alumni Network Engagement & Regular Updates
After the course, participants become members of the Carbon Credit Vietnam alumni network: receiving a monthly professional newsletter, invitations to quarterly thematic webinars (updates on new GRI standards, new Decrees, global trends), and the right to free consultation on ESG issues arising at their company. This is the mechanism that keeps knowledge continuously refreshed — vital in a field that changes as fast as ESG.
9. Frequently asked questions
